Business setup in Dubai for Ethiopians.

Company formation in the UAE for Ethiopian founders, traders and exporters. We check the activity, the visas and the banking before anything is filed, and we advise you in Amharic or English from the first question to a working company.
Why the UAE
Your largest export market is four hours away.
The UAE is already Ethiopia's largest export destination, and much of the world's trade with Ethiopia passes through Dubai. A UAE company puts you inside that market, with banking, logistics and buyers within reach.
01
A company banks can read
A UAE licence, a corporate bank account and a clean file make it easier to invoice international buyers and to get paid in a stable, convertible environment.
02
Trade in both directions
Sell Ethiopian coffee, sesame, pulses, flowers, leather or spices to UAE buyers, or import into the UAE and re-export onward, on a licence that matches the goods.
03
Residence for you and your family
A UAE company can sponsor residence visas for its owners and, subject to the income rules, their families. We coordinate the permit, medical, biometrics and Emirates ID.
04
Advice in Amharic
Talk the structure through in Amharic or English. Estimates, checklists and the file stay in writing, so nothing is lost in translation.
05
Structure before price
The cheapest licence is not the goal. We settle the activity, the free zone or mainland route and the visa plan first, then keep the cost down within that structure.
06
One partner after the licence
Bank account, corporate tax registration, renewals and amendments, coordinated from one desk, with twelve months of coordination from licence issuance.
Two common starting points
Most Ethiopian founders start in one of two ways.
Your business model decides the structure. These are the patterns we see most often.
Goods
Traders and exporters
- You export Ethiopian products such as coffee, sesame, pulses, flowers or leather
- You import into the UAE and re-export to Ethiopia or the wider region
- You need a trading or foodstuff activity and a customs code
- Your goods may need labelling, food-safety or halal approval
- You need a bank that can follow the transaction flow
The licence has to support the goods, the storage, the customs route and the buyer. We check each one before filing.
Services
Consultants and service founders
- You advise, design, build software or manage projects
- Your clients are international or other businesses
- You do not need a shop or walk-in customers
- You need a founder visa and a small team
A free zone is often the practical first step where the activity allows it.
Coffee is not one activity.
Trading green coffee, roasting it and running a café are different activities, sometimes in different jurisdictions. The licence has to match what you will actually do.
Nationality checks.
Some free zones restrict, or add approval steps for, certain nationalities. We check this for every shareholder before we recommend a zone.
How it works
Five clear stages. One advisory partner.
Most clients go from first conversation to a registered company in two to three weeks.

You get: an operational company, not just a licence
What you need
The documents, for Ethiopian shareholders.
Clear colour scans only. Black-and-white or phone-photo copies are rejected and delay the file.
The company
- Three proposed trade names, in order of preference
- A detailed description of the business activity
- The products to be traded, for a trading licence
- The number of visas the company needs
Each shareholder
- Passport copy, valid at least six months from submission
- Recent passport-size photograph on a white background
- Shareholding, capital contribution and designation
- Occupation, business background and source of funds
Ethiopian nationals
- The Fayda ID or national ID card
- Current UAE visa or entry stamp, if you are already in the UAE
- Power of Attorney, if a shareholder cannot be present
- Some documents issued in Ethiopia need attestation: we tell you which before you send them
The full list depends on the zone, your passport and your family plans. The document checklist builds it for you.

Setting up from Ethiopia, answered.
Straight answers to what Ethiopian founders ask us first.
01Do I need to travel to Dubai to set up?
Not always. Formation can often start remotely, depending on the zone and your documents. You need to be in the UAE for the medical test, biometrics and Emirates ID, and banks often want to meet the signatory.
02Is a free zone or mainland better for a first-time founder?
For many first-time founders a free zone is a practical start where the activity allows it: lower complexity, packaged options and founder visas. If you need a shop, walk-in customers or to invoice UAE customers freely, mainland is the better fit.
03What should an Ethiopian exporter check before setting up?
The product category, the trading or foodstuff activity on the licence, customs registration, storage, labelling and food-safety rules, halal where relevant, and whether goods enter the UAE market or are re-exported. Buyers and payment terms matter as much as the licence.
04Can an Ethiopian national open a UAE corporate bank account?
Yes, Ethiopian-owned UAE companies do open accounts, but each bank decides case by case. Banks look at the activity, the source of funds, where your customers and suppliers are, and a clear business plan. We prepare the KYC file and a short plan with you. We never promise an outcome.
05Can I bring my family to the UAE?
Once you hold a residence visa through your company, you can usually sponsor your spouse and children, subject to the income and housing rules at the time. We check the conditions for your case before you plan around them.
06Will my company pay tax in the UAE?
The UAE has corporate tax and VAT, with thresholds and reliefs that often favour small companies, but registration and filing duties still apply and free zone treatment depends on conditions. We set out what applies to your company before you start trading.
07Can we talk in Amharic?
Yes. Consultations, WhatsApp and the estimate email are available in Amharic or English. Official documents are filed in the language the authority requires.
08What will it cost?
It depends on the zone, the activity, the number of visas and the workspace. Use the estimator and we email every government fee for your plan, itemised. Our own fee is separate, subject to your needs, and agreed with you before anything starts.
